WIU JOINT PURCHASING CONSORTIUM
The Westmoreland Intermediate Unit Joint Purchasing Consortium provides an opportunity for the public schools in Westmoreland County to secure better pricing on purchases through aggregated quantities. The Consortium is directed by a board comprised of a representative from each participating school entity, which includes school districts, career & technology centers (CTCs), and the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit (WIU). The WIU Joint Purchasing Coordinator facilitates the bidding.
Presently, the WIU Joint Purchasing (JP) program only bids for multi-purpose papers and also diesel fuel and gasoline.
PAPER BIDS
The bidding for Multi-Purpose Paper for 2013-14 has been awarded to Contract Paper Group. At the consortium meeting on March 27, 2013, the group awarded the three paper items as a lot. It is anticipated that the 2014-15 paper bid will occur on about the same time frame, with bid information released to potential vendors in February/March 2014.
FUEL BIDS
The WIU Joint Purchasing Consortium for Fuel opened bids for Diesel Fuel & Gasoline for the 2013-14 school year on April 24, 2013. The low responsible bidder for both gasoline-87 octane and diesel fuel was Guttman Oil at $2.7588 per gallon for gas and $2.9937 per gallon for diesel.
The fuel bid process will tentatively begin again in January 2014 with a request for interested vendors to file an "Intent to Bid" along with other required documentation.
