The Deaf and Hard of Hearing program at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit services those students throughout the county identified with hearing loss. Our team is comprised of Hearing Itinerants, Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and an Educational Audiologist, all integrating our services for those students with a diagnosed hearing loss. Team members focus on each child’s needs and help to identify, educate and rehabilitate these children to help further their success in the educational setting with the latest technology. Additionally, we provide in-services to teachers as well as parents and school administrators for each individual student. We work together to ensure that every person working with the student is familiar with the effects of hearing loss as well as working with the equipment and how to maintain it day to day.
